Kazunori Maruyama, Ph.D.

Dr. Maruyama is the investment director of Astellas Venture Management (?AVM?), California-based corporate venture arm of Astellas Pharma, Inc., a top tier Pharma in Japan. AVM is the fund management company handling Astellas Venture Capital, originally established in 2000 as Yamanouchi Venture Capital, and Fujisawa Investments for Entrepreneurship originally established in 1999. Prior to the investment business, Dr. Maruyama served as a scientific analyst in Product Planning Department of Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., covering the endocrine-related disease area, including diabetes, its complications, osteoporosis, and hormone-dependent cancers based on his research background. Dr. Maruyama started his job career as a research scientist in Yamanouchi after his Ph.D. thesis in the University of Tokyo.
