Mr. Cain is a founding and managing partner of SAIL Venture Partners, an energy and cleantech Venture Capital firm based in Southern California. SAIL has a fully invested 2005 first fund and has closed on its second. He currently serves on 8 boards, with two as chairman, and has been a director in over 30 public and private companies.

Current board of director for SAIL investments of: Enerpulse, Kokam America, Townsend Advanced Energy, Ice Energy, SNTech Motors, Cleantech Capital Group, and Oryxe Energy.

Prior to SAIL, Mr. Cain, founded Starco Energy LP whose primary business was petrochemical fuel terminals for gasoline and diesel, in Texas and successfully exited.

Prior to this, he founded and served as managing partner of Focus Capital Group of America (FCA), LLC. in partnership with Focus Capital Group, Israel, where he acquired the secured debt of the distressed down stream public petrochemical company, Evans Systems Inc. This firm he replaced governance, management, and recapitalized.

Mr. Cain primary background is in IT where he founded Distribution Architects Int?l (DAI) in 1977 and grew it to be one of the world?s largest Supply Chain software companies with offices around the world. Through various mergers and acquisitions, he retired as Chairman of the board for the acquisition corp. for Mapics in 2001 when it was sold to Infor Systems.

Mr. Cain was also a well known leader in Young Presidents Organization having chaired the MIT Presidents Education, the Global Supply Chain conference and group leading HBS Presidents Education.

As a software architect, his Internet products have won such prestigious national competitions as the Internet Computer Expo best Business Product and the Retail Information Systems Conference best Innovation in Logistics. He is considered the father of the modern day ?DLL? architecture through pioneering application RTL development.

In his collegiate days, he did high order tensor analysis of fusion plasma?s for Los Alamos labs to understand the structure of magnetic containment fields for controlled fusion reactors in an effort to directly produce electricity through neutron capture by lithium blankets.
