Scott MacDonald
Partner, Emerald Technology Ventures

Based in our Montreal office, Scott MacDonald is a Partner with Emerald Technology Ventures and is focused on information technology investments within the clean technology sector. Scott previously served as Chairman of RuggedCom (TSX:RCM) and currently serves on the boards of Soft Switching Technologies, Solicore, SynapSense and the Pressure Pipe Inspection Company. Prior to joining Emerald, Scott held the position of Managing Director in the venture capital subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation, a large North American electric utility. Previous to Ontario Power, Scott worked for a Toronto-based corporate finance and investment banking firm assisting a number of energy technology companies secure financing, negotiate strategic joint ventures, and has advised on initial public offerings and merger and acquisition transactions. In addition, Scott worked for an early stage venture capital fund focused on investing in information technology companies. Scott graduated with a Bachelors degree from McMaster University and an MBA from Dalhousie University. He is a member of the North American Advisory Board for the CleanTech Venture Network and is an elected voting member of the Canadian Olympic Committee for the 2005-2009 quadrennial.
