Matt is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Catalyze, a software-enhanced renewable energy project equity origination and investment platform. Matt is a globally recognized leader in renewable energy project investment, development, and entrepreneurship.
Matt has raised over a billion dollars into seven leading-edge renewable-energy project equity funds resulting in more than 3,000 MW or renewable energy projects being developed. Matt has been an early stage and infrastructure investor and entrepreneur since 1999 when he managed renewable energy and water and sanitation investment programs in La Paz, Bolivia, for the U.S. State Department. Matt has since founded MMA Renewable Ventures, which was sold its project portfolio to SunEdison in 2011, and CleanPath Ventures, which sold its project portfolio to Kyocera. Matt is also a co-founder of Black Rock Labs, a not-for-profit innovation hub focusing on clean energy in rural areas of America.
Beyond his investing efforts, Matt served on the Boards of the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and the U.S. Department of Energy in international energy policy. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the American University and his Masterís degree in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies.
