Founder, Infield Capital
C. David Moll is the founder and managing director of Infield Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm specializing in clean technology for the transportation industry.
David has a varied background in both manufacturing and technology development which affords him and Infield Capital a unique perspective on identifying and growing investment opportunities within the focus of those technologies that will define the future powertrains used in all segments of the transportation industry, from personal mobility and lawn and garden, to automotive and heavy duty applications in the expanding market.
Prior to launching Infield’s first venture fund in 2008, David served as the CEO of Webroot Inc. for 5 years, piloting the company through its highest growth years and creating one of the largest privately-held software companies in the US. This capped a 10 year operating career in venture-backed technology companies. David helped raise a quarter billion dollars in venture funding during that period, and contributed to multiple successful investor exits.
David sprang from industrial roots, and before ever pursuing high-tech, he had an accomplished career with a Tier 1 automotive supplier and an integrated consumer products company, culminating in a 4 year stint operating factories for MTD Products in Tennessee with 1,000 employees and three heavy manufacturing facilities.
David has also spent time in the professional services industry with EDS and Ernst and Young. He is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, and earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He has received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst and Young and his companies have been recognized with the Technology Fast 50 Award from Deloitte and the Hot 100 from Fast Company Magazine.
A strong advocate of alternative energy technologies, David serves on the board of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association and resides in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two children.
